Hi, I'm Nora Ellis

Renter for eleven years and counting, across six apartments and four cities. I write about making small, temporary spaces feel like home - without losing a deposit over it.

My first apartment was 38 square metres with one closet and a landlord who counted the picture hooks on move-out. I spent years figuring out what actually works in a space you do not own - what earns its footprint, what comes back off the wall cleanly, and what is simply not worth buying. That is what ends up here.

Our Guiding Principles

Reversible

Everything here goes up without a drill and comes back down without a deposit dispute. If it damages the wall, it does not make the list.

Earns Its Footprint

In a small apartment, every piece has to justify the floor it stands on. We favour things that fold, nest, stack or do two jobs at once.

Real Budgets

A rental is temporary and so is the money you should spend on it. Most of what we recommend costs less than a single takeaway week.
